Suppliers of wood pellets for horse and animal bedding throughout the UK.
Our wood pellets are ideally suited for use on either rubber matting or concrete floors. For a 12 x 12 stable with rubber matting you will only need 3 - 4 bags of pellets to start your bag and then around a bag a week thereafter.
HOW TO USE HORSE BEDDING PELLETS
All pellet beds start off as a dry product to which water is added. The water expands the pellets making a soft comfortable bed for your horse.
MAKING YOUR HORSE BED
STEP ONE - FIRST THINGS FIRST
Clear your stable of its existing bedding (unless you already use pellets and are just maintaining/topping up your bed).
STEP TWO - COUNT YOUR BAGS
For a standard 12ft x 12ft (3.7m x 3.7m) stable with rubber matting you will need to use 6-10 bags. If you want to make a very deep bed add a few more bags. If you like your bed to have banks add a few more bags to the sides. If you aren’t using rubber matting you may find that you need a couple more bags of pellets to make your horse bed.
STEP THREE - OPEN THE BAGS
Lay the bags across the stable floor and split each one from corner to corner in a cross (x) shape. Tuck the cut ends under so that a large surface area of pellets is exposed, but they remain contained in the bag.
STEP FOUR - JUST ADD WATER
Add 4 litres of water per bag. Leave the bags for 10-15 minutes to absorb the water and break up
STEP FIVE - TAKE A SHORT BREAK
If the pellets have not broken down sufficiently then increase the volume of water (a 12.5kg bag can take up to 6.25 litres of water). Again leave the pellets to absorb the water.
STEP SIX - SPREAD WITH A RAKE
Once the bags have sufficiently broken up, empty the bag onto the stable floor and spread using a rake.
